Midway through one of the top regular-season track and field invitationals in the southeast on Friday, Florida State University will honor two of its all-time greats on the track.
Just two hours before the premier high school distance event of the FSU Relays, the 3200m invitational, the Seminoles will recognize Olympian sprinter Walter Dix, a third-place finisher at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, and Kim Batten, an Olympic silver medalist in the 400m hurdles at the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996.
The FSU Relays could prove to be one of the top early invitationals in the country, with rocket-fueled distance events lined up on Friday that include the 800m and 3200m.
On Saturday, with the high school portion of the meet kicking off in earnest, stellar times and efforts will no doubt go down.
