Last spring at the Pan-American Junior Athletics Championships, Jamal Walton ran one of the top marks ever by a high school athlete. Walton threw down a 44.99 for US No. 2 all-time.

Walton might be the top returner, but he's in a close race with several other guys from across the country; Miami Norland's (FL) Tyrese Cooper was one of the most consistent 400m athletes last year running 46.xx or better almost ever meet.

We also have to mention Flight400 Track Club's Brian Herron who's had an amazing indoor season holding the US No. 1 time of 46.43 since December 30. He will be looking to run some fast times as well.

Last but not least is sophomore Sean Burrell from Louisiana. As a freshman, Burrell ran 46.19 at the Great Southwest Track and Field Classic which ranks him as the fourth-fastest returner tied with Kenny Bednarek of Rice Lake (WI).
