* Brendon Stewart's winning 55m effort from The VA Showcase
Sprint Times Are-A Dropping
No time is safe.
On Tuesday, Franklin Township (NY) High junior Mario Heslop walloped the 55m Eastern States Championship field with a big PR of 6.26 (-0.06 improvement) to earn a new US No. 1 mark ahead of state and national competition.
Will it stick?
The same can be said for Brendon Stewart's new US No. 1 in the 60m of 6.66, which he produced on Saturday at the Marshall University High School Open. The DeMatha Catholic (MD) High senior has been near or atop the national leaderboard for much of the season and, even if the time does go down, expect Stewart to get the final word at New Balance Nationals Indoor in March.
The nation's top three times were re-set at Marshall, with Stewart's own teammate, junior Nick Cross, earning a US No. 2 mark with a 6.68 and Henry Clay (KY) High junior Langston Jackson setting a US No. 3 time of 6.72 seconds.
We shouldn't forget about Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa (AL) High senior Okheme Moore (6.73) or Delta (UT) High senior Dallin Draper, either. The duo stands at US No. 4 and 5 and will both be at NBNI.
