Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West (IL) ran a freshman national class record in the 2-mile last year at the UK High School Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky. Hart ran 10:21.41 to claim the record.
Michelle dela Vina from Andrean High School in Indiana held the prior ninth-grade indoor record with a time of 10:23.46. She had the record since 1998. Hart also ran in the mile last year, finishing in 4:54.
