FCIAC Girls Preview: Philippides Looks to Lead Greenwich

The FCIAC championships will be Thursday at Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven beginning at 4:30.

Danbury girls, who finished either 1st or 2nd in the in the FCIACs every year by one from 2001-2011 have reemerged as a power and took the last two FCIAC crowns.  But if they want to go for a three-peat, they will have to go through a strong Greenwich team led by All American 800m runner, Emily Philippides.

Philippides is entered as the top seed in the 600m and 1000m, where she holds the FCIAC record and is also entered in the 1600m.  While normally this would be an impossible triple, with 42 entrants in those longer events, there may be enough rest time to pull it off.  

Also in the Cardinals' arsenal is junior Jordan Numme who is the top seed in the 300m, Olivia DiLascia who is tied for the top seed in the high jump and Lia Zavattaro the defending FCIAC champion in the pole vault.  To potentially add to their point totals they also have the top seed in all four relays.
