In 2016, Fordham Prep's (NY) Conor Lundy set the Yale Track Classic 3K meet record. Lundy ran a 8:22.06 for what was also a U.S. No. 1 mark at the time. Lundy graduated from Fordham Prep in 2016 and now runs for Princeton University.
In the same race, DJ Principe also finished runner-up with a time of 8:26.51, the second-fastest time ever run at the Yale Track Classic. Principe graduated from La Salle Academy in 2017 and now runs for Stanford University.
