Nike Cross Nationals champion Katelyn Tuohy ran 9:05.26 for 3K today, the second-fastest indoor time in prep history behind only Mary Cain's 9:04.51 national record set in 2013.
Tuohy won the event at the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games in New York.

Her time converts to 9:45.34 for 3200m and 9:48.72 for two miles; the latter of which also would rank No. 2 all-time behind Cain, whose record is 9:38.68.
The updated national high school top ten list for the indoor 3K is as follows:
TIME | ATHLETE | HOMETOWN | YEAR |
9:04.51 | Mary Cain | Bronxville, NY | 2013 |
9:05.26 | Katelyn Tuohy | Thiells, NY | 2018 |
9:14.12 | Kate Murphy | Burke, VA | 2017 |
9:17.4 | Melody Fairchild | Boulder, CO | 1991 |
9:18.36 | Aisling Cuffe | New Windsor, NY | 2011 |
9:19.99 | Weini Kelati | Leesburg, VA | 2016 |
9:20.34 | Brie Oakley | Centennial, CO | 2017 |
9:21.41 | Erin Keogh | McLean, VA | 1987 |
9:23.68 | Ryen Frazier | Raleigh, NC | 2015 |
9:26.28 | Kelsey Chmiel | Saratoga Springs, NY | 2017 |
The effort bodes well for her upcoming 5K national record attempt at the VA Showcase in two weeks, which will be streamed live on FloTrack. The indoor record for 5K is 15:55.75, set by Brie Oakley last year.
