Some Of The Best Prep Runners In The Country Say They're Honored To Represent Team USA

A contingent of the very best high school cross country talent will represent Team USA once again at the Great Edinburgh International XCountry Challenge at Holyrood Park in Scotland on January 13, for one last cross country race of the 2017-2018 season.

Perhaps the No. 1 sentiment that each athlete echoed heading into the race is that "running for Team USA will be an experience of a lifetime."

The Great Edinburgh International XCountry Challenge, a full day of races which also includes a professional event, will tee off at 9:40 AM (GMT). The junior girls squad, which includes a few college freshmen, will run the 4K distance, while the boys will compete in the 6K.

The young Americans, some of whom who have signed to collegiate programs next fall, will also compete against talent from Great Britain, Europe, and Northern Ireland.

Athletes competing for Team USA include Ohio's Dustin Horter; Illinois' Dylan Jacobs, Danny Kilrea, Clayton Mendez, and Katelynne Hart; Texas' Graydon Morris; Wisconsin's Drew Bosley; California's Claudia Lane; and New York's Kelsey Chmiel

Make sure to check back on MileSplit.com for a race recap from Saturday's action and follow MileSplit on Snapchat while members of Team USA take over our account and document their journey from the ground.

Before each athlete made their way to Scotland, we caught up with them to ask about their ambitions and thoughts heading into their last cross country race of the season.
