With any new season comes the question that enters the minds of fans almost immediately.

Will any boys runner break four minutes in the mile?

Only one high school athlete since 2013 has surpassed that threshold, with Loudoun Valley graduate Drew Hunter being the last to do it in 2015 at the Millrose Games in 3:57.81.

A year ago, LaSalle Academy's DJ Principe was the closest toward breaking that elusive mark, posting a time of 4:00.97 at the New Balance Games.

What will 2018 have in store for us?

Already, Bishop Shanahan's Josh Hoey has opened the full mile with a time of 4:12.60, though many more have yet to debut, including Brentwood's Brodey Hasty, who was the fifth-fastest miler last year and the quickest returner with a 4:08.04 from Millrose.

And yet, there are a host of others who could make the leap into that coveted sub-4 minute mile club.

Check out the top 100 indoor boys in the mile over the past five seasons.
