The University of Michigan may have just won the Great Lakes XC regional meet, but coach Mike McGuire has still found time to assemble one of the top recruiting classes in the nation.
Earlier this week the Wolverines notched a major commitment from Ann Arbor native and 16:50.3 5K runner Anne Forsyth, and on Friday, Flo50 No. 3 Olivia Theis, ranked No. 10 on MileSplit's ranking of the top 50 recruits in the Class of 2018, announced that she too will attend Michigan.
The Lansing Catholic standout just earned her first Michigan state XC title with a 5K PR and state meet record of 16:52.1. Theis also owns state titles at 1600m and 3200m, and finished second in the two-mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in June with a time of 10:14.34. She was a Foot Locker finalist in 2016 and is a strong favorite to return to San Diego this year.
"I am thrilled to announce that I have chosen to continue my running career at the University of Michigan," Theis announced in a press release. "I am excited to run with the other girls on the team and with those coming on to the team and I am especially excited to run for coach McGuire."
Theis is not listed in the entries for tomorrow's NXR Midwest regional meet, so expect to see her next at Foot Locker Midwest on November 25.
