Oregon State University nabbed two dynamic talents from Arizona and Oregon on Wednesday during the first day of the National Letter of Intent (NLI) early signing period.
The Beavers received a huge addition in Desert Vista (AZ) High senior Haley Wolf, an NXN qualifier from 2016 who returned this fall to score her first Division 1 state cross country championship in Arizona.
Wolf ran a PB of 17:21.60 at 5K and finished eighth at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, posting an effort of 16:12.10 at 3-miles. She holds PBs in the 1500m of 4:36.06 and 4:58.30 in the 1600m, along with a best of 10:44.06 in the 3200m. Wolf also has run a personal best of 2:17.23.
In the throws, Oregon State receives Jordynn Slater, the No. 49 prospect on MileSplit's ranking of the 50 athletes in the Class of 2018.
A senior from La Pine (OR), Slater has pocketed three state titles in Oregon and a major PR in the javelin of 153 feet. Slater has also thrown PBs of 130-6 in the discus and 118-1 in the hammer. In May, Slater won second straight championship in the javelin, posting a mark of 141-11.
