Soren Knudsen from Minooka High School took home the win in the 2016 boys 3A state meet by running 14:20.00. He won over this year's favorites Danny Kilrea and Dylan Jacobs. With the win, Knudsen and his dad became the first ever father-son duo to win Illinois state championships. His father, Jim Knudsen, won back in 1981 for Lockport Twp. High School.
This year's state meet should bring as much or more action with the highly anticipated matchup between Kilrea and Jacobs.
