Tessa Barrett from Arlington Heights, Pennsylvania, beat her own course record back in 2013 by running 17:30 to win the PIAA state championships girls AAA title. That same year she went undefeated to also win Foot Locker Nationals running 17:15.40.
Her record was on the old course; since then the course has been changed. Last year was the first time they ran the new course, and Downingtown West's Aislinn Devlin set the new course record running 17:44.00. This year that record should be broken by Northern's Marlee Starliper, who's already run 16:50 this season at the 25th Annual Carlisle Invitational.
