Colorado State Cross Country Championships
Class 5A Girls
Mountain Vista High's girls program, ranked No. 5 in the Flo50 national rankings, took home the 5A state championship on Saturday, scoring 64 points to take the win over No. 10-ranked Broomfield, which scored 92 points. Winning the overall individual title was Mountain Vista's sophomore Jenna Fitzsimmons. Fitzsimmon's teammate Caroline Eck was second and senior Claudia Burgess from Boulder was third.
Overall, Mountain Vista went 1-2-5-10-46 and displaced 48th and 64th for its full seven. As a team, the girls had an 18:41.7 average and total time of 1:33:28.5 and a 1-5 split of 1:33.5. Broomfield finished 4-17-22-23-26 and displaced in 28th and 30th. They had a 19:01.0 average time and only a 0:56.6 spread. Rounding out the top three teams in Class 5A were the ladies from Rock Canyon, which scored 164 points and were led by sophomore Hope James, who finished 13th.
Mountain Vista also took home the 5A boys team title with 53 points and was led by senior Carter Dillon, who finished fifth. Taking the individual title was Monarch senior Charlie Perry, who ran 15:36.8.

Class 3A
Flo50 No. 20-ranked Quinn McConnell from Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette, Colorado, took home her second Class 3A state cross country title on Saturday. McConnell led her team to a 1-3 sweep and team title. Juniors Anna Shults and Tiana Bradfield were second and third respectively, while freshman Allison Beasley and junior Elle Triem rounded out the scoring in 25th and 62nd for the Pumas.
