Kayla Windemuller from Holland Christian High in Michigan recently made her verbal commitment to Baylor University. The senior has PBs of 2:15 for 800m, 4:52.60 for 1600m and 10:19.44 for 3200m. This cross country season she's won every meet she's raced except the Portage Invitational, where she finished second behind another one of Michigan's best, Olivia Theis from Lansing Catholic.
On the track her times in the 1600m and 3200m rank 34th and 11th, respectively, among all returners nationwide. She was the third-place finisher in the 5K last spring at New Balance Nationals Outdoor, running a PB of 17:05.88. That time ranks second among returners, only behind Winona Cotter High School's Grace Ping.
Windemuller is one of the first big mid-distance/distance pickups in the Class of 2018 for the Bears, who had a good recruiting class for sprints in 2017.
