Nationally Ranked Teams And Runners Will Battle It Out At Woodbridge

Arguably the fastest meet in the country will take place Friday and Saturday at the SilverLakes Sports Complex in Norco, California. 

So get ready for the Skechers Woodbridge Cross Country Classic, an annual 3-mile race, back for its 37th outing. 

This year's version of the event will watch more than 300 teams and over 13,000 athletes toe the line. And while it was expected the meet would be back at the Orange County Great Park this fall, the construction on the site will have to push back its welcome back date just another season. 

No matter. 

The SilverLakes Sports Complex is fast, flat, and ideal for fast times. A year ago, Grandview (Colorado) High's Brie Oakley broke the overall meet record on the girls side, becoming just the second female to dip under 16 minutes in a time of 15:54.

On the boys side, Armijo (California) High's Luis Grijalva, now at Northern Arizona University, won in 13:58, coming up three seconds shy of the overall meet record. St. Joseph Notre Dame (California) High's Cooper Teare was second in 13:59.60. 

Both days will feature races under the lights, though the elite sweepstakes races will begin at 8:54 PM PT on Saturday. The boys are slated to begin at 9:14 PM PT.
