Analysis: Chmiel had a tremendous sophomore cross country season, and the beginning of her postseason run began at the Section 2 Championships, where she won the 3-mile course in 16:47.71. She finished first at the New York Class A Championships, first at the New York Federation Championships, second at the NXN New York Regional, and fifth at NXN. She ran a season PB of 17:17.50 at the 5K distance. In the spring, Chmiel set a sophomore national class record in the 3000m, posting a time of 9:18.09 at the Eddy Games, and she won a national title in the 2-mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 10:10.44.
