The NXN New York region is going to be one of the biggest and best regions out there in 2017.
Last year's winner, Katherine Lee, will be back and looking to reclaim her title. Lee was undefeated all of last year, except for NXN where she finished 10th. Her reclaiming of the title isn't going to be easy, though. There's top talent looking for a crown of their own, including
Kelsey Chmiel (Saratoga Springs, New York),
Sophie Ryan (Manlius, New York),
Katelyn Tuohy (Thiells, New York),
Hannah Reale (Clifton Park, New York), and others.
Kelsey Chmiel gave Lee a challenge last year, finishing second behind her at the regional meet. Chmiel was als fifth at NXN, and undefeated the rest of the regular season. Like Lee, Chmiel could be a potential contender for a national title.
Sophie Ryan comes back this cross country season with the third fastest time in the field, having run 17:29.70 at
CNYCL XC Championship Meet.
