The second-best boys pole vaulter of 2017 is readying for the AAU Junior Olympics at Eastern Michigan University from July 29-August 5. Lee's Summit (MO) High rising senior KC Lightfoot hit a PB of 17 feet, 8.5 inches at the Great Southwest Classic in June, earned an All-American nod at New Balance Nationals Outdoor by finishing sixth in 15-9.25 and then just missed out on a trip to the Pan American Junior Championships by finishing fourth at the USA Junior Championships in 16-10.75. So Lightfoot, who's currently US No. 2, may be ready to hit some big heights again. He's just a few inches away from 18 feet. Can he do it?
