Damira Allen 1500m - 8-&-Under National Record
After winning a trio of gold medals at the 2016 AAU Junior Olympics, Damira Allen (PA) is looking for another three-event sweep at this year's meet in Ypsilanti, Michigan, from July 29 to August 5.
Last year in Humble, Texas, a then-8-year-old Allen won the 1500 meters (5:18.44), the 800m (2:32.00), and 400m (1:05.89). Her times in the 1500m and 800m were both new national records in the 8-and-under division.

This year, she is hoping to repeat her success in the same three events in the 9-year-old division. She comes in with the fastest seed time in the 800m with a 2:28.43 but only the second-fastest times in the 400m and 1500m. Her times of 1:05.55 and 5:19.05, respectively, rank second behind Julia Grant of Jeuness Track Club (NY).
Grant has run 1:03.77 for 400m and 5:16.20 for 1500m, which makes her the favorite in those events.
The battle is setting up to be a good one in all three. You can catch all the action on FloTrack from July 29 to August 5, live from Ypsilanti, Michigan.
