The South Dade Express girls 800m SMR team ran an all-time No. 3 performance of 1:41.17 on the final day of championship races at New Balance Nationals Outdoor on Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The team, comprised of Miami Southridge (Fl.) High runners, earned their second straight national title in the event after finishing in 1:41.85 last year. The relay consists of 100-100-200-400 splits.
The lineup included junior Shakyra Garnett and seniors Shaniya Williams, Kayla Johnson and Symone Mason. Williams will continue her career at the University of Central Forida, while Mason and Johnson will move on to the University of Miami.
