Watch: No. 2 All-Time 300m Hurdler Thomas Burns Has Message For His NFL Brother Artie

Miami Northwestern (Fl.) junior Thomas Burns ran one of the all-time best 300m hurdles at the Great Southwest Classic on Saturday at the University of New Mexico.

What are your thoughts on your race?

It feel like I accomplished something and I came up here for a purpose. I came up here to take care of work.

Can you break down your race? Did you run your cleanest race ever?

Nah. Actually, the second hurdle over there, I messed up my step. I had to launch to get to the next hurdle. I maintained my step and got over the hurdle.

What was your mentality going into this race? This year was your first under 36, so it was familiar to you. What has that done to your confidence level?

My confidence went up pretty high. I had more faith in myself and I knew I could do it easily instead of trying my hardest to run a 35.

Did you set your bar at running a 35 entering Great Southwest?

My bar was 34.99 but I ain't reach my bar.

You're from Florida and you traveled the most to get here. Being from Florida, did you feel you had more expectations on you to perform?

In the 300, I had two of the top hurdlers in the nation, so I had to get my mind right for that race. In the  4x4, I had to get my mind right to run a fast time.

You have an older brother, Artie, who ran collegiately at Miami and played football and now is in the NFL. What do want to say to him?

I'm the big brother now.
