One of the best distance runners in the country converted on the distance double at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Cardinal Gibbons (NC) High senior and Stanford University signee Connor Lane dropped a 3-second win in the 3200m, going 8:59.90 over slick conditions at the North Carolina A&T University Track, and produced a 4:17.58 win in the 1600m to close his state postseason.
It was his second straight title in the 3200m and his third state championship overall.
