7. Laying Down An Epic Performance In The 4x800 At Penn Relays
The Oxon Hill (Md.) boys put together a breathtaking performance in the Penn Relays Carnival Championship of America 4x800 relay preliminaries, dropping a new Maryland state record of 7:40.35, which broke a 38-year old record of 7:40.9, which was set by Fairmont Heights of Chapel Oak in 1979.
In doing so, the squad qualified for the championship final, where they finished ninth. The preliminary performance set a new US No. 1 time by a margin of five seconds.
Wadsworth (Oh.) High is US No. 2 in 7:45.16.
The winning team comprised of Anthony Wimbish (2:00.10), Aaron Robinson (1:53.75), Randy Serville (1:56.03) and Gary Ross (1:50.49).
Ross' split would have ranked US No. 6 after the weekend in the open 800m.
