In his second attempt at breaking the elusive 4-minute mile, St. Jopseh Notre Dame (Ca.) High senior Cooper Teare came up just short again, running a winning-time of 4:01.29 on Saturday at the Sacramento Meet of Champions.
The Oregon signee's splits were 57.59 seconds, 1:01.20, 1:02.31 and 58.67.
Two weeks ago, Teare ran the 10th fastest mile ever at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing in 4:00.16.
Davis Senior (Ca.) High's Michael Vernau was second in a US No. 5 time of 4:09.85, which also stood as a 4-second PB for the Stanford signee.
Reed (Ca.) High's Anthony Ocegueda was third in 4:10.88, moving up to US No. 9.
