COLUMBIA, SC - Campbell (GA) High junior Alexis Jones dropped a new US No. 1 time to win the 400m hurdles Saturday at the Bojangles Track and Field Classic.
She ran in 59.44 seconds, beating the rest of the field by almost two seconds, including former No. 1 Lauren Hoffman of Battlefield (VA) High.
Jones also took the victory in the 100m hurdles in a US No. 18 time of 13.86.
Rounding out the top three in the 400m hurdles were Hoffman (1:01:10) and Leah Phillips from Bullis (MD). In the 100m hurdles, Hoffman took second in 14.01, while Zykeria Williams took third in 14.09.
Anna Cockrell, now at the University of Southern California, set the meet record time of
57.77 seconds in 2016.
