American Fork Boys Set National Record in 4x1600 Relay

The American Fork (UT) High boys made history by recording a national record in the 4x1600m relay, running 16:41.30 at Arcadia Invitational on Friday in California.

The team had planned on this. They had been eyeing the former record held by Temecula Great Oak (Ca.) High, which was set last year at the same meet in 16:52.95.

While official results of the team aren't available just yet, previously the team intimated it would be comprised of Casey Clinger, Patrick Parker, McKay Johns and Carson Clinger.

Unofficial split times reported on Letsrun.com had the American Fork boys at 4:26 on the first mile, 4:08 in the second mile, 4:05 on the third and 4:02 on the anchor leg.

The American Fork boys shattered the former record and finished nearly a minute ahead of the next fastest team, Lone Peak (UT), who was second in 17:31.04.
