Girls 100m & 200m Dash
Alyssa Gridiron running 11.71 at her region meet in 2016.
When:
100m -- Saturday, 3:30 PM (CDT)
200m -- Saturday, 4:25 PM (CDT)
Why: Both of these races will feature some of the fastest female sprinters in Texas. In the 100m will see Mesquite Horn's Kaylor Harris. Harris has the fastest PR and seed time with her 11.34 from NBNO last summer. Her top time so far this year has been 11.54 all-conditions from the Carl Norris Relays. But Harris will be in several events this weekend, so we can't count out someone else to take the win. There are five top 45-ranked girls in the 100m alone, including Kelcie Simmons U.S. No. 45 (11.87), Ja'leesa Giles U.S. No. 11 (11.60), Alexis Brown U.S. No. 19 (11.70), Alyssa Gridiron U.S. No. 26 (11.80), and U.S. No. 9 Cecily Edwards (11.57). Gridiron was also the 2016 5A state champion in the event. Last year at her region meet she ran her fastest all-conditions and 2016 season PR of 11.71 (+3.4).
