Unbeatable is a word that is thrown around loosely when it comes to athletics, but it fits the description accurately when it comes to Sammy Watson. She been virtually impossible to beat for the majority of her high school track career whether the distance is as short as 300 meters (39.24 PR) or as long as a full mile (4:47.49 PR).
The event she claims complete dominance over is the 800 meter run, which she has won World Junior (2016) and World Youth (2015) titles in over the past two summers, along with several New Balance Nationals titles plus wins at Brooks PR and US Junior Nationals. Having broken the national record indoors with her 2:01.78 performance at the Millrose Games, the next record to go after, naturally, is the outdoor national record of 1:59.51 set by Mary Cain in 2013.
Below, you can find the top 500 outdoor returnees in all distance events (800, mile/1600/1500, and 2 mile/3200/3K) for both genders for the upcoming 2017 spring season, which is already under way in some of the warm weather states.
