Sydney McLaughlin will return to the New York Armory this weekend for one more crack at the national high school record in the 300m. The senior at Union Catholic came up short last weekend in her bid to break Francena McCorory's 2006 record of 36.96, as she ran 37.09 to place fourth in the Millrose Games Invitational 300m. That time improved on her own No. 2 all-time mark of 37.11.
That race was star-studded, as she finished behind Olympic medalists Shaunae Miller, Natasha Hastings and Ashley Spencer. No information has been released yet on who McLaughlin's competition will on Friday at the Artie O'Connor Invitational.
But the 300m will just be a warm-up for a busy weekend, as NJ MileSplit reports that McLaughlin is entered in the 400m, 55m and 4x400m relay at the NJSIAA Non-Public A State Championships on Saturday afternoon.
