For Casey Clinger, the view from the top is anything but lonely. The nation's No. 1 ranked runner in the nation also leads the No. 1 ranked team in the nation: American Fork.
Last year, Clinger won the individual Nike Cross Nationals title as a junior and led the Cavemen to a shocking runner-up team finish after they had placed just fourth in the Southwest Region.
On Saturday, Clinger could become the first athlete to win two individual national titles in Portland.
American Fork could also potentially win the team title. The team is undefeated this year and Clinger led an impressive 1-2-3 sweep at NXN Southwest, which many consider to be the toughest boys' region in the nation.
The senior has not yet announced where he will compete in college, though his top two choices are BYU and Oregon.
