Maryland State Championships results & coverage
Two weeks ago, we debated the toughest course in the nation and came up with three different answers: Mt. Dora in Florida, Mt. SAC in California and Hereford High School in Maryland, the site of the Maryland state cross country meet and home to the infamous Bull Run Invitational. At the time of the debate, no girl had ever run under 18 minutes on the course. However, that all changed on Saturday at the Class 4A State Championship as not one, but two girls made cross country history. 2015 Foot Locker finalist Maria Coffin battled with Abbey Green of Walter Johnson to course record times of 17:49.38 and 17:54.40. Coffin held the previous record in 18:09.10. Green's runner-up performance led Walter Johnson to the team title with 59 points.
