#23 Julia Heymach over #12 Ashton Endsley, but bubble London Culbreath clocks fastest time of the day - again
The last time they met --at the McNeil Invitational on Oct. 1-- Ashton Endsley distanced Julia Heymach, 16:50.65 to 17:04.99. Endsley was undefeated all season and looked poised to win her first Texas state title on Sunday. However, Heymach pulled out the guns for the championship and defended her 6A title, 17:12.78 to 17:16.15.
But the best female distance runner might possibly be a freshman in Class 5A. At McNeil, McKinney North's London Culbreath clocked a faster time than either Endsley or Heymach in 16:48.59. At state, she did the same thing with a 17:06.72 solo effort. All three girls could possibly meet in the same race for the first time at the NXN South Regional this weekend.

#10 Keller girls over #9 Southlake Carroll
Keller and Southlake Carroll have traded spots back and forth all season in the national rankings. Southlake Carroll took the upper hand at regionals, but the Keller Indians set themselves up nicely for NXN South with a 40-point win at the Texas state meet: final tally, 44 to 84 points.
