The tape cuts off right before the finish line, but Arjun Jha's wild homestretch kick was enough to beat Hunter Moore for the win, 14:56 to 14:58, at the Les Eisenhart Invitational in Worthington, Ohio last weekend. Jha's time is the second-fastest 5K time by a high school junior in the nation this season.
Both athletes ran well under the prior meet record of 15:13, set by Tsehaye Hiluf of Reynoldsburg High School in 2011. Moore tweeted that the cross country race was the first in Ohio state history to produce two sub-15 performances.
