The St. Vrain Invitational readily accommodates teams and individuals who want to run up to the 4A-5A races. It's part of what makes the St. Vrain such a great mousetrap.

But, when you do that, you create some goofiness in the scoring. It's not easy to look at the 2A-3A results and know with any certainty which small school team had the best effort at St. Vrain. Sure, Salida won the 2A-3A girls race, but how would Peak to Peak have done with their top two runners in the 2A-3A field? And, what about The Classical Academy and Denver North, who ran their entire teams in 4A-5A? What if Lily Tomasula-Martin had run in 2A-3A?
