Florida senior Jeff Demps, of South Lake High School, finished eighth place in his semi-final 100m dash Sunday afternoon. Demps got off to a shaky start, tried to push in the middle, but couldn't respond to the professional athletes he was competing against. Demps crossed the line in 10.34, well short of his 10.01 from Saturday evening. It was a surprising weekend for Demps, advancing from the prelims, advancing from the quarter-finals, while running a new U.S. prep record, a new U.S. junior record and tying the World Junior record.
