The Girls 4x800m Relay Federation Final at the New York State Championships was destined to be a barn-burner with the inclusion of New Balance Nationals Indoor champions Mamaroneck and Penn Relays champions Shenendehowa, both of whom ran well under nine minutes in 2016.
Start the race at 4:37 to see a wild second exchange as the race has already whittled itself to Shen and Mamaroneck, as both second legs split 2:16. On the third leg, Mamaroneck's Katie DeVore runs to a slight lead with a 2:11 split ahead of Shen's third leg, who ran 2:13.
On the anchor leg, Shari Rauls kept the lead for Mamaroneck with a 2:10.43 split as the New York state champions finished with a final time of 8:54.33, the second-fastest time in the nation this year.
Hannah Reale held on for an overall split of 2:11.12 as Shenendehowa's overall time of 8:56.83 was good for runner-up honors in the race and No. 4 in the nation this year.
