Ciynamon Stevenson's US #2 Triple Jump Headlines Great Oak, Vista Murrietta Battle At Southwestern League Finals
The road to state is a long one in California. With the CIF State Finals about a month away (June 4-5), the time to qualify is now. Great Oak and Vista Murrietta didn't play around at their first stop: the Southwestern League Finals. Highlights below.
- Ciynamon Stevenson US #2 42-0.5 triple jump
- Great Oak girls sweep the top 13 spots in the 1600m, led by Destiny Collins in 4:49.94. The top thirteen girls ran 5:18 or faster and the top eight broke 5:10. It'll be a tough decision to pick the quartet to go after the 4xMile national record at New Balance Nationals in June.
- Collins leads another sweep in the 3200m: the Texas commit runs 10:20; plus Nicole Rice, Evelyn Mandel break 11 minutes
- Great Oak boys sweep the top five spots in the 1600m as Isaac Cortes and Spencer Dodds both run under 4:10: Cortes 4:08.72, Dodds 4:09.4. Cortes came back to win the 800m in 1:53.47; Dodds doubles back with 9:09 3200m to lead 10 Great Oak boys under 10 minutes.
- Game changer frosh Kolonnie Green, who helped the Great Oak girls DMR get to the next level, won the 400m in 56.41 and the 300m hurdles in 45.91
- Michael Norman sprint sweep: 48.16 400m, 20.51 (+0.2) 200m
