adidas Dream Mile, 100 Set For Boston On June 17-18

The 2016 adidas Dream Mile and 100 will be held on Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 in Boston, Mass. as part of the inaugural adidas Boost Boston Games, according to a press release issued today by adidas.

The two-day track and field festival will begin on Friday evening at George Dilboy Memorial Stadium in Somerville with the Dream Mile and pro races 400m and longer. The event will continue on Saturday afternoon with a street meet on historic Charles Street between the Boston Public Garden and Boston Common, and feature the Dream 100m as well as pro sprints, hurdles, pole vault and long jump. The street meet will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).

The status of the premiere high school championship has been unknown since news in early March that adidas would pull its sponsorship deal with the IAAF. Prior to that announcement, the Dream Mile and 100 races were traditionally held in conjunction with the adidas Grand Prix, one of two U.S.-based stops on the IAAF Diamond League tour held every June in New York since 2010.

Early qualifiers for the meet include Caitlin Collier (4:46 mile, Raleigh Relays auto qualifier), Frank Pittman (4:13 mile, Raleigh Relays auto qualifier), Madie Boreman (4:52 1600m, Kansas Relays auto qualifier), Aarika Lister (11.72 100m, Kansas Relays auto qualifier), Micah Beaver (10.58 100m, Kansas Relays auto qualifier) and Ryan Schweizer (4:18 1600m, Kansas Relays auto qualifier).

The Friday evening race date leaves the option open for ambitious distance athletes to attempt a Dream Mile/Brooks PR Invitational double, as the Seattle-based championship event is scheduled for Saturday, June 18.
