Blunt won the two mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor and captured a Texas state title in cross country this fall. But he's only raced once since that November day in Round Rock--an outdoor 400 in 54.90 in late February. Since his stress fracture last fall, his fitness has been a total question mark. Beginning with the 3200 and Friday evening and continuing with the 1600 on Saturday, we'll begin to get some answers.
Duvernay is the nation's #2 returner in the 100 from a year ago. He ran a wind-legal 10.27 at the Texas state meet, and will make his outdoor debut this weekend. If the wind is clean, don't be surprised if Tyrese Cooper's US #1 10.49 mark goes down.
Brown won the mile at New Balance Nationals Indoor in wild fashion; now, with less than a week off, he turns his attention to outdoor. He ran 9:17 for 3200 at this meet last year; he's running the DMR and 800 on Saturday.
2.Adrian Piperi (JR/The Woodlands) Piperi, the world youth champ in the shot put, has been on fire the last two weeks. He became the outdoor national leader with a 70-1 throw in College Park on March 5, and set a new indoor PR of 69-2 for a silver medal at New Balance Nationals indoor. (The indoor and outdoor shot put implements are different.) He'll try to extend his one-inch national lead this weekend.
1.Keshun Reed(SR/Arlington Martin) Last year, Reed barely competed indoors and then began slashing time outdoors. He's taken a completely different tack in 2016, competing in a full indoor season that culminated in a national championship in the 400 this past weekend. He'll run the 4x1, 4x4, and 400 on Saturday.
