On this week's MileSplit podcast, we talked to Sammy Watson, maybe the most versatile athlete in the country. Here's what the 300/400/600/800/1K/mile runner and long/high jumper had to say about:
If she heard Stephanie Jenks passing her in Boston: "I didn't!"
Adding another event: "Maybe the pentathlon. I can't throw, but I feel like my 800 time would make up for it in points."
Lifting: "I do 100 pushups every night, but it takes a while. My pushups aren't very good."
Her classmates knowing her track exploits: "I'm on the announcements a lot, it's cool, but I'm just a regular person."
Not getting burned out mentally: "I just try not to get bored. That's why I do different things like do the long jump. I know I'm not going to make it far in that, but it's fun to do."
Her favorite pro and college runners: "I like the way Ajee' Wilson races. In college, Raevyn Rogers...and my sister."
Her hardest workout ever: "We did twenty 300s with a 100 jog in under 60 seconds each. I felt accomplished after that one."
She also told us that she's not running Millrose. Listen to the full podcast for more!
