Maxwell Willis Blazes to Two US #1 Marks at Spire
Take it with the caveat that it's an oversized track, but Archbishop Carroll's Maxwell Willis ran the fastest indoor 200 and anchored the fastest 4x400 in the country this year. The senior won the 200 in 21.08 seconds--on a regulation track, that would make him the eighth fastest performer ever.
He then doubled back in the 4x400, where his Carroll team won in a dominant 3:16.70, lowering their US #1 mark by a whopping 2.01 seconds. Ohio's Pickerington Central ran 3:18 and change to lower their US #2 time.
They weren't the only Ohioans to throw down a US #2 performance. Distance runner Andrew Jordan won the 3200 in 8:54.82, the second fastest 3200 in the country this year--trailing only Aidan Tooker.
