Nike Indoor Nationals is Just Three Weeks Away...
Over the next three weeks leading up to NIN we will bring you previews of some of our events. This week, it's the Boys Two Mile Run and the Girls Pole Vault, both of which feature loaded fields...
Boys Two Mile Run
Committed thus far are 2007 sub-9:00 minute two milers Colby Lowe (Carroll, Southlake, TX), Sean Keveren (Brentwood, TN) and Luke Puskedra (Judge Memorial, Salt Lake City, UT). Add to that field this year's crop of newcomers: Brian Leung (West Windsor Plainsboro South, Plainsboro, NJ), the recent winner of the New Jersey state 3200m (8:59.77), Doug Smith (Gill-St. Bernard's, Gladstone, NJ), just behind Leung in that race (9:01.86), and Bobby Aprill (Dexter, MI), who ran a solo 9:10.1 in early January. More great athletes will be added as the season winds down.
Girls Pole Vault
Both Rachel Laurent (Vanderbilt Catholic, Houma, LA), the current US Leader at 13-09.25, and Shade Weygandt (Mansfield, TX) at 13-08, have been swapping the national lead throughout the season. They are both entered, as well as 2007 13-02 performer Stephanie Foreman (Lake Hamilton, Pearcy, AR). Abby Shaffer (Easton, PA), second behind Weygandy at this year's Pole Vault Summit at 12-11, looks to challenge as well. Lots of "12-footers" have joined the field, including Morgan LeLeux (New Iberia, LA, 12-06), Shelby Kennard (Rockwall, TX, 12-06) and Chrissy Finkely (Montville, NJ, 12-06).
NIN Regular Registration Deadline - March 2nd, Midnight PST
Sunday, March 2, 2008, midnight PST, is the regular registration deadline for Nike Indoor Nationals. Avoid the late fees and register and pay on time. Simply by entering and not paying entry fees does not mean acceptance into the meet. Acceptance into the meet only happens when the entry is complete AND all entry fees are paid. The fields are getting loaded with nationally ranked talent. Meet records are sure to fall and perhaps a few national records as well! Get all the information you need here...or go here to enter.
