Twins Bethany and Megan Hasz ran 1-2 in 17:32, 17:37 to lead Alexandria Jefferson High School to a second place finish (96 point) behind a dominant Willmar (28 points) as both programs advanced to the Minnesota State XC Championships.
Bethany, the defending Minnesota state cross country champion and 1600m/3200m champion, was the favorite for the individual title. But Megan, who finished fifth last fall at NXN, has raced more sparingly this fall since recovering from a spring injury. The result was a pleasant surprise and indicates that she is likely in All-American candidate form again.
