Senior Drew Hunter of Loudon Valley, Va. left no room for doubt about his No. 1 ranking on Saturday, as he scorched a nation-leading time of 14:20.8 over 5k with splits of 4:31 and 9:15. To give that mark some perspective, Hunter ran 14:54 here last year before going to win Foot Locker South and place fourth at Foot Locker Nationals.
Breaking!!!! Weini Kelati just ran 16:29!!! VA #2 All time and an "in-state" record! @milesplit

No. 3 ranked Weini Kelati of Heritage High School was equally impressive with a 16:29 (unofficial) time, which stands as the second-fastest 5k time in the nation this year. Kelati has seemed to be racing on another level this fall and the mark is a definite indicator that she is, as her sub-16:30 is a full minute faster than her 17:31 win in 2014. Could the nation's fastest boy and girl both hail from the state of Virginia this year?
Bubble individual Rachel McArthur of Patriot, fourth at Manhattan last weekend, was runner-up in 17:36 behind Kelati in a solid run of her own as she cut 15 seconds from her time last year.
