No. 25 ranked Courtney Wayment was bound for a breakthrough - and she may have already gotten there two weeks ago with a win at the Bob Firman Invitational. But Friday night's 16:58 course record at Layton Commons Park felt, to her, like a true measure of significant progress.
"It was hard, but I felt good and strong," she said. "I felt so ready for a big breakthrough. I am finally in shape and ready for bigger better races."

The No. 21 ranked Davis girls packed up well to win their regional easily with 18 points and five in the top six for a 1:37 spread. Only Isabella James of West High School could split up the pack (third, 17:29).
