No. 2 Ranked Sandburg Splits Squads, Still Wins
No. 2 ranked Sandburg of Ill. looks dangerously good right now - and not just on paper, but in battle.
The Eagles split their varsity between two meets (Peoria and St. Charles North) and still came out on top at both. Here's a breakdown of who ran where:

Other notable performances: If Sandburg weren't so deadly, the Illinois team we might be talking about is Lyons Township. The No. 18 ranked team had a nice meet with a 38-second top five spread and 14:55 three mile average. Junior Vince Zona ran No. 1 with a 14:37.3, third place finish as he was just outkicked by Lehnhardt.
Maryjeanne Gilbert of Peoria Notre Dame won the 1A/2A Girls Race in 16:34, nearly 90 seconds ahead of the runner-up; Brooke Wilson of Prospect won 3A Girls Race in 16:51 for her first career run under 17 minutes
