Since 2013 the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede has been good to the Lamar Savages. Behind a Josh Davis victory in 2013 the savages won the meet. In 2014 junior Jake Rogers took home the individual title again and the team took second. And in 2015 Rogers repeated and the team followed in kind taking the team title with a spread of 1-3-5-13-16.
Rogers ran a 17:09, 11 seconds ahead of Caleb Palmer of Alamosa. The Mean Moose took second to the Savages placing 2-8-10-14-17.
Isaiah DeLaCerda, a consistent top performer from last season, was absent from Alamosa's lineup, a fact not lost on Rogers. The Lamar senior was pleased with his victory, but looks forward to racing not only DeLaCerda in the future but also Salida's Taylor Stack, and SkyView Academy's Ben Butler.
