If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?
I would get serious about the sport sooner.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
The most difficult obstacle I've had to overcome was that I came from a family that had no running athletic background, moving from a third world country to the U.S. at a very young age. When I first started out running I was horrible at it, if I didn't get last I got second to last. I was also over weight for my age. Then the summer of my sophomore year in high school I decided to make a change in my life and commit myself, completely changing diet, training plans, and the way I saw the sport.
What will you miss the most?
I will miss my boys varsity team and my high school coaches.
What advice you would give to younger athletes?
Commit yourself, work hard, and the results you want will come. It did for me.
What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
I would be no where without my coach. He is the reason for my success. He turned a un athletic kid, who had no hope on earning a college scholarship or being even half way decent in any field of sport and turned him into a 4:11 miler and 9:02 two miler. That takes a certain type of coach to do that, I still believe that he's one of the best coaches out there because if you're willing to work for it, he will help you get where you want to get.
What are your college plans?
I will be competing for Lipscomb University, a Division 1 college in Nashville, Tennessee.
Who would you like to say thank you to?
I would like to say thank you to all my friends, family, and coaching staff for the incredible amount of support. I would not be where I am today without y'all.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Go Bisons!
