With the fastest 1600m and 3200m times in the Class of 2015, Grant Fisher led Stanford to win in a virtual track meet of the nation's top recruits.
Which college nabbed the top recruiting class this year?
Taking their season-best times and marks, we scored out the Class of 2015 as you would any other track meet with one small caveat - instead of representing their high schools, they represented their future homes.
Stanford used their distance duo of Grant Fisher and Alex Ostberg to rack up 28 points for the win. With Fisher leading the nation in both the 1600m and 3200m, the Grand Blanc, Mich. senior scored 20 points while Ostberg scored 8 points in the 3200m. Other notable signings for the Cardinal include Will Lauer, NBNO 5K Champ, and Brian Smith, a 1:51 800m runner from the Netherlands.
Houston took a more well-rounded approach compared to Stanford to earn runner-up honors with 27 points. With five recruits all running in races no longer than 200 meters, Houston took control of the sprint category. John Lewis and Tyreik Gray both scored points in the 100m while Gerald Mills, Marcus McWilliams and Amere Lattin scored points in the 200m and the 110m hurdles. It's worth noting that Houston recruited in state for all of those pick-ups.
Much like Stanford, UCLA utilized two recruits to move up the rankings to third. Rai Benjamin gained 22 points across the 200m, 400m and 400m hurdles while Michael Burke gave the Bruins an additional three points for a 25 point total. They also add Colin Burke, a 9:00 3200m runner, and Arturo Sotomayor, who runs 1:51 for 800m.
